Issue 1                 24- May-2000

________________________________________________________

During the meeting held on the 4/3/00 it was decided to form a sub committee to review and propose the method for deciding the club all-rounder. It was felt that the outcome should at least clarify any confusion regarding the method for calculating the championship and what events would be included.

The subcommittee is to provide its recommendations for review at the next full committee meeting to be held either on the 31/05/00

The subcommittee consists of:- Clive Learwood, Graham Stallard, Terry Weeks and Trevor Hornby.

The following is a draft document of the findings/recommendations.

____________________________________________________________________

Objective

·         To provide a fair method for deciding the overall club champion.

·         To encourage as many club members to actively participate in competitions.

Implementation notes

·         Events in the Club “All-rounder”, are club events readily accessible to ALL club members.

·         In recognition of the different disciplines and to widen participation, to award separately Flat and Slope as well as the overall all-rounder.

Notes and Recommendations

Recommendations

1.        The scoring method to be as in the previous table which reduces by one point per placing.

2.        One off events to score 10 down and leagues start with 15 (accept FNL first div which starts at 10)

3.        At least 1 point will be awarded for each competing attendee.

4.        That new annual club awards be generated for each of Slope and Flat champion, the winner simply being the highest scorer from those listed.

5.        To qualify for the all-rounder you must have participated in at least one event from each of Slope, Flat and Club-night comps.

6.        That a separate Pylon comp be formally added to the competition calendar in addition to the existing league contest.

7.        That 3 months notice be provided for all-rounder events and that reserve date be normally set one week following a postponement. Optionally add a few reserve dates to the end of the calendar.

8.        The slope events and specifically Aerobatic and F3F  (Wales) should be held locally or not included in the club all-rounder.

9.        The Interclub away events are excluded as not local.

Follow up actions

·         Republish rules for forthcoming events i.e. FF Chuckie.

·         That the events rule book be updated to include all the all-rounder contests

·         New Awards to be sourced for

·                                        Slope Champion

·                                        Flat Champion

·                                        Pylon event (one off comp)

·         Dates allocated for comps less than 3 months away.

Reasoning

1.        This scoring method provides more points to more people, should mean the delta over a number of contest is kept closer together (within reach )

2.        The league contests are rewarded higher to reflect the number of sessions that have to be attended to stand a chance of winning.

3.        1 point ensures you gain for participating rather than not!.

4.        To ensure those who simply want to concentrate on one discipline are still rewarded

5.        To ensure the all-rounder is an all-rounder and to encourage wider participation (especially those club nights)

6.        To clarify the uncertainty and make the event consistent with both thermal and electric.

7.        To ensure best effort is made to allow all to participate. Giving long notice (preferably the full calendar at the beginning of the year or as soon as practical) allows members to arrange their diary.

8.        The Slope events should be meet the requirement of being available (in principle) to all TVSF.

9.        Interclubs: attendance to away events is viewed by the Sub Committee as an external comp similar to a BARCS open and therefor should not be included.
