Monday 20th March
It's
a hard life, we were awoken yet again by the smell of John and Vic's cooking
wafting up the stairs and had to endure the hardship of a full English breakfast
yet again.
After breakfast it is customary to fettle any broken or damaged models, Tony
decided to superglue my chuckie wing to the table cloth why? we do not know,
madness probably. He claims he was repairing his own model at the time. Picture
left shows him attempting to remove the glue with debonder.
The wind is nonexistent today (forecast Wednesday onwards looks better) so
we decided to persist in the quest to find a motor for my Mefisto, a check
through the model magazines shows a shop which shall remain nameless close
by. A car full of us decide to investigate and drive to the town. The model
shop? is at the back of another shop so we walk up to the counter and inquire
after a speed 600 motor "haven't got a clue mate, my son runs the model
shop and he never gets out of bed 'till 11-30am lazy b*&%£"d
and never comes in on a Monday" so we jump behind the counter and have
a good rummage about, but no motor.
When we left the model shop it was pub opening time and unusually a suggestion
is made that we retire for a sandwich and drink.
We left The Ship fully refreshed and found a message on the phone from Graham,
the wind is now building up to a massive 4mph and the direction is North-northwest
which is on Rhiw mountain.
A
swift journey finds us back at Cim Farm to load the cars and head for Rhiw
mountain, its about a 20 min. drive. With the chance of some flying today
we arrive in record time. Unfortunately the lift is very light but we are
graced with the presence of some local flyers, Brian Gowland and Don Brown
it is nice to meet and fly with the locals (you can go to any town and find
the friendly face of a local flyer, so they say!!!!!) Chris Moynihan was demonstrating
his thermal skills with an Eliminator 134 and Graham Stallard was entertaining
everybody with his Waco models Mosquito hand launch. Just about every one
had a good flight today even though the conditions relied mainly on thermal
activity, Norman Childs went right to the bottom and that sent up a big cheer.
Still looking forward to Stonking lift, perhaps tomorrow!!!!
