Friday 24th March
Well
the day we were waiting for has finally arrived. Bright skies, 20mph wind,
South-southwest which is on Porth Ceriad one of the best sites we can fly
at.
We had to still endure a full English breakfast (thankfully
the last one!!) then rush to the slope.
Today's flying was 'The best it gets' everybody flying solidly all day, and
just about everything being shown the slope.
Graham James was able to fly his new 1/4 scale Vega. Chris Moynihan flew his
SE5 looked superb on a slow flyby. Graham Stallard of course flew his Alpina
almost nonstop. Alan Butterworth had the first fly with his Milan and declared
it "a good 'un"
There was just to much activity to remember it all. I was flying to much to
be bothered taking pictures so apologies for the lack of them today.

After lunch as we were on private land, we participated in the clubs version
of combat flying based on Hare and Hounds with each combatant taking it in
turn to be the hare carrying a streamer. It always proves to be excellent
fun and this year I managed to win (lots of luck).
Ian Lancaster continued with his unlucky streak as last year
and could be heard shouting "were's my @?%$£& Zagi" landing
out nearly every round. It was a good job Tony Morgan was "put down"
breaking his servo arm in an early hit.
1. Richard Thornton +6
2. Chris Moynihan 0
3. Norman Childs-2
3. Peter chance -2
5. Andy Marshall -5
6. Graham Stallard -12
6. Terry Antell -12
8. Bill Hatton -20
9. Ian Lancaster -45
10. Tony Morgan (put down)
As an addendum to Thursdays page, flying was continuing until
dusk but unfortunately not without its mishaps. Pictures below show the remains
of Peter Chance's Simprop Ventura which suffered radio failure and flew straight
into the sea. Also pictured is the 'Been in the sea club' Peter Chance, Graham
Stallard, Terry Antell and Chris Moynihan. The only winner from this was Norman
Childs who was in quick and inherited the bits and say's he is going to rebuild
it.
