Handlaunch Results 2000

 

1st of July 2000 was club night and the annual Handlaunch competition both radio controlled and freeflight varieties. As you can see from the picture of pilots briefing this is a popular event with many competitors entering both disciplines with varying degrees of success!

The weather was not to kind with quite a strong wind blowing, this catching out many competitors and three planes were lost to the trees during the practice session.
Trevor Hornby can be seen running from the pilots briefing in the direction of the trees, you guessed it, (No! the toilets are the other way) he was one of the unfortunate ones, who's model ended up a tree, a great shame because his model was probably a Winner (pun intended Trevor).

 

There were some superb radio controlled flights with Graham Stallard, Graham James, Chris Moynihan all hooking good air Trevor Hornby was getting away at one point until somebody noticed and with everyone shouting encouragement, that was the end of that flight.

Picture shows three early retirements from the freeflight, with damaged models. Chequebook modelling is in all disciplines now it seems, with the two outer models being fully moulded off the shelf items! (might explain why they both failed at the same point.) And at £2-50 each the pilots felt hard done by!!!!

John Price showed everyone how its done (yet again) with some superb flying in the freeflight section and Alan Butterworth was seen chasing his own design all over the field.
